MARCELLE & ANNABELLE Beauty Unveiling 2012

Did you know Canada.. Toronto Representative Faniya heading to an amazing event last week..

Last week I attended the amazing Marcelle & Annabelle Beauty Unveiling Event at bright and spacious Andrew Richards Designs. I am a big fan of Marcelle products, so for me this event was a real treat. Beauty stations were set up along the big room, where beautiful representatives welcomed everyone to introduce new products.  Wine, music by DJ on site and delicious snacks made this event even more relaxing for everyone.

So here are some highlights of the products for our beautiful ladies coming soon to Canadian stores:

You probably know that Marcelle was the first who introduced BB cream to Canadian beauties, so now the company presents all-new BB Cream Anti-Aging + SPF 20 with its 10-in-1 multi-benefits that evens out your skin tone, hydrates and brightens your skin. The cream also smoothes out fine line and wrinkles and gives an instant lifted appearance.

Another great addition to the Marcelle’s BB line is BB Cream-to-Powder. Its creamy texture becomes a silky powder finish on your face with all the benefits BB cream has.

To improve your skin tone and diminish fine line and wrinkles Marcelle introduces Youth Generating Serum powered with the Marcelle-exclusive Skin D Fusion technology. It improves your skin’s elasticity, leaves you with a radiant, even tone. I tried this serum on my hand, the result is soft and tender baby’s skin.

Another Marcelle’s anti-aging line is New Age Precision that uses the most advanced age-fighting technologies. This new line is not only a “wrinkle-killer”; it also reinforces the skin’s structure and improves firmness of your skin.

As for eye shadows Marcelle presents all new 72 shades for any day, occasion or mood. You just have to see them and pick the ones talking to you.

Annabelle’s beauty innovation this year is a launch of all-new BB product line: the BB Cream Multi-Action Beauty Balm SPF 15, the BB Compact Makeup, the BB Skin Perfect Concealer, and the BB Skin Retouch Crayon.

So BB Cream Multi-Action Beauty Balm SPF 15 perfects, brightens, primes, hydrates and protects the skin which fits me perfectly, BB Compact Makeup is a powder foundation equipped with a double-sided sponge to vary your coverage, BB Skin Retouch Crayon  is a double-ended crayon that fills in fine lines  on one end and brightens on the other.

Do not forget to check this amazing new Annabelle stand of make-up products coming to the Canadian stores next month.

I am looking forward to seeing Annabelle and Marcelle products on store shelves (most of them in July & August) and I hope some of them will be added to your favorite beauty products and find a permanent home in your cosmetic cases.

Hey Canada!

Did you know Canada..  Tundra Books has a fabulous new book for kids, "Hey Canada!".  Written by Vivien Bowers and illustrated by Milan Pavlovic, this book is filled with facts, history and tales from across Canada.

Alice, nine, and her cousin Cal, eight, are reporting the story from the car as they travel across Canada with Gran.  I love how modern it is as Alice writes blog entries from Gran's netbook and Cal is Tweeting.

They start off in St. John's Newfoundland and drive though every province and territory in Canada ending in Nunavut.

Here's some of the awesome things you will find in this book..

* beautiful illustrations
* photos of Canada like the Cabot Trail, Halifax Harbour, the Terry Fox Statue and more
* fun side notes like rules (#3 is No wildlife in the car.  Except hamsters.)
* interesting facts like that seven-eighths of an iceberg is hidden under the water and Nova Scotia means "New Scotland" in Latin
* "find it's"
* comics
* each province's flower and bird
* maps
* updates on their pet hamster
* poems

Wow, just wow!  Full of fantastic information, presented in such a way that every child (and Mom and Dad) will thoroughly enjoy it, retain it and be able to share it.  It's funny, silly, knowledgeable, beautiful and I just love it.

I am so, so happy to have been able to read this book and share it with my boys.  This will be an amazing tool for school work in the coming years and something we can enjoy as a family as we find out more about our country.  It makes us all want to go on vacation around Canada too!!

You really have to check this one out, and what a great gift it would make for this Canada Day long weekend!

Hallmark Canada for Grads

Did you know Canada.. over the next couple weeks there will be grads celebrating across Canada. Whether it's College and University grads ready for a career, highschool grads ready for big changes, grade school grads looking to their teen years, or the Kindergarden grads facing the big Grade 1.

Hallmark has you covered to celebrate all of these special grads, and we've been checking out a few of their products.

We shared these really cool flip flops with a friend, they are perfect for reminding your grad where they are heading. Great to slip on sore feet after wearing dress shoes for graduations too!

We are using this fun Class of 2012 photo album as a teachers gift. I snuck some great photos of the kids with their awesome teacher on class trips and I know she is going to love saving these pictures as a great reminder of a fun year.

How cool is the Moo-lah money and giftcard holder? a favourite gift of grads everywhere, whether it's for school clothes for next year, or to save towards a new laptop or maybe even a new car, this cute cow (and the cash!) will put a smile on any grads face.

Do you have any grads you are celebrating this year??

When: Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th.

Where: Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver downtown cores

The full schedule is available on Walt Disney Studios Canada’s Facebook page

About the film: Set in the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland, Disney•Pixar’s “Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald), a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to change her fate, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane), unleashing chaos in the kingdom. When she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters), she is granted an ill-fated wish and the ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her resources—including her mischievous triplet brothers—to undo a beastly curse and discover the meaning of true bravery. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humour. Opens on June 22, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theatres.

Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files

Did you know Canada..  last week we were so excited to give away three copies of Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files!  This week we wanted to share our review of the DVD with you.

We've had Phineas and Ferb running in the background a few times but no one has really watched it until now, well the ENTIRE family is now addicted to this show!

Between the fun ideas the Phineas and Ferb work on, to their cool big sister Candace that is always trying to "bust" them - it's a riot.  Not to mention Perry who is a Platypus spying on the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

"Doofenshmirtz" is a funny word we all scream out at random times at home now by the way, and everyone bursts out laughing.

I admit there are a few cartoons I can not stand (Caillou), a few cute ones my boys have grown out of (Max and Ruby) but this is the first time we've actually enjoyed watching shows as a family and I love it!!

I am so grateful to Walt Disney Canada for introducing us to such a fun show and I highly recommend picking this up for your kiddos!!

Doofenshmirtz!

Weldbond

Did you know Canada.. have you heard about Weldbond?? It's a CANADIAN MADE non-toxic glue, that sticks to just about anything!

I had hubby give it a try on his unfortunately growing pile of broken toys the boys produce.  We have a couple favourite monster trucks that have been in one too many crashes.  Hubby has tried MANY times to fix these and they are a favourite of the boys, but they either don't stick at all or as soon as the boys use them they break again.

He is very happy to report the Weldbond was easy to apply and it stuck!  The Monster trucks are back in action and the boys are very pleased too.

As Mom I love that it's non-toxic!!!  Not only is it non-toxic, but it's also nonflammable, free of fumes, has low VOCs, is created without animal by-products and environmentally friendly!  I also, of course, appreciate that this product is Canadian made.  You can trust what's in it and you are supporting fellow Canadians when buying it.

Perfect for:

* Woodworking
* Model Building
* Scrapbooking
* Drywall
* Framing
* Mosacis
* Cement
* Fabrics

Find Weldbond across the nation at Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Lowes, Home Hardware and Michaels craft stores.  Weldbond truly bond to most anything!

Toronto Plastic Bag Ban

Did you know Canada..  yesterday it was announced the Toronto City Council has voted to ban plastic grocery bags COMPLETELY in 2013.

I'm sure you are all used to paying 5 cents at many grocery and other retail stores across the nation for a plastic bag, well in Toronto they are getting rid of them completely.

So to reiterate this is for ALL retail stores in Toronto.  If you forgot to bring your reusable bags from home, I'm not sure what will happen.  Hopefully stores will have an alternative available like boxes?

I'm on the fence about this one, absolutely we need to protect our environment, I was okay with paying 5 cents a bag when I forgot my own or just wanted a few bags.  I mean I never throw them away, we reuse them for a million things - packing snacks, shoes, and wet swim clothes to name a few.  I also don't always bring reusable bags when shopping at speciality stores along a strip as one would often do in Toronto, it's such a tourist spot too, if you are staying in a hotel and without a car how would you carrying everything??

What's your take on it??

The Mighty Badge – Reusable Name Badge

Did you know Canada..  our Toronto Representative Faniya, has been trying out The Mighty Badge!

You know that I attend lots of events on behalf of Did you know Canada?  I am always looking the ways to look professional and be easily recognized. A badge is one of the magic tools to tell people who you are; it stands for quality, trust and professionalism.

I was very excited to review the Mighty Badge Do-It-Yourself starter kit recently that includes 10 reusable name badges (10 metal badge plates, 10 lenscovers, 10 magnets and insert sheets)

With this kit I was able to create my own badges instantly using the Mighty Badge Microsoft certified software.  I was able to choose my style, font and pictures. That means if I want to change my logo, add new features or create a badge just for one particular event I can easily do that by applying a new design with Mighty Badge software and printing it. It is so easy to use and fast.

A steel plate and lenscover make my badge look so professional and smart. Now I do not worry if I scratch somehow the badge (this happened to me before in the past and it took about two weeks to replace the whole piece), right now I can replace only a lenscover,  I do not need to wait long to get my badge back.

I also like that the Mighty Badge has a magnet fastener that does not “hurt” my clothes as a pin one. Another nice feature is that the Mighty Badge stays firmly in place thanks to a magnet fastener again, keeping it in horizontal position all the time, so I do not need to check it constantly.

I was so curious to know who stands behind this amazing product and excited to learn about Marla Kott, an incredible Canadian woman entrepreneur and the CEO of Imprint Plus.

Marla’s relationship with Imprint Plusthe Mighty Badge developer, began in the mid-80s, when she was working as a Chartered Accountant in Quebec.  At that time Marla Klott often consulted her childhood friend Ellen Flanders and future Imprint Plus owner on her start-up printing company.

In 1990 when Marla was given an opportunity to invest in Imprint Plus, she stepped in as an angel investor with a small capital investment of $20,000 to keep the company in business.

In 2000 Marla Kott left accountant job and moved to Vancouver to become the full time CEO of Imprint Plus.  Under her leadership and strategic direction, Kott has grown the company into a thriving international exporter of name badges and has expanded of operations to include sales offices in Toronto, US and the UK.  Sales have increased by 221% from $2.6 million to $8.5 million as reported in the fiscal year end May 31st, 2011, and the customer database has increased from 2,600 to 35,000.

“When we originally entered the badge market” , says Marla Kott, CEO of Imprint Plus”there was a strong need for a badge that not only provided value but was polished, professional and could be created instantly. Today, the Mighty Badge has done that.  It provides the sophistication of customized name badges at a fraction of the cost, and they’re still among the only reusable and recyclable name badges produced in the world.”

Marla Kott and her team received many prestigious awards including Marla’s ranking in Profit Magazine’s Top 100 Women Entrepreneurs for 7 consecutive years.

So now I rely on Mighty Badge as my powerful tool, see me wearing it during the upcoming events.
